...Vor vielen Jahren fanden in diesem schönen grünen Tal fanden heftige Kämpfe statt.

Wir Wandern auf dem Sliding Sand Trail in Richtung Aschekegel. Wir merken deutlich die dünne Luft.

Pu'u Pua'i Vulkan-Trichter. Hier brach 1959 der Vulkan aus.

Big Island- Kohala

Es geht nach Norden ins Kohala-Gebiet.
Kohala ist der älteste Vulkan auf Big Island, der das letzte mal vor etwa 60000 Jahren aktiv war.
We go North into the Kohala district.
Kohala is the oldest volcano at Big Island, 60000 years ago having last sputtered.

Zurück aus dem Paradies- Back from Paradise

3 Wochen Hawaii liegen hinter uns. Es war traumhaft schön. Wir haben die Inseln Big Island, Maui und Kauai gesehen.
Im Ohr ist noch die Musik von Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, die uns auf unserer Touren begleitet hat. Sein "White Sandy Beach" lädt immer noch zum Träumen ein.

3 weeks in Hawaii are behind of us. It was a perfect dream. We have seen the islands Big Island, Maui and Kauai.The music of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, that came along with us at our route, is still in my ears. His "White Sandy Beach" is still inviting for dreaming.



Der typische Blumenduft in der Hawaii-Luft und das üppige Grün werden uns lange in Erinnerung bleiben.
Wir sind über Lavafelder gewandert, haben den Stock in glühende Lava gehalten und standen auf Land, das jünger ist als wir.
Wir haben an weißen und schwarzen Stränden ausgeruht und gebadet und haben Wanderungen an der Napaliküste und im Weimea Canyon mit spektakulären Ausblicken genossen.
Wir haben auf dem Mauna Kea und dem Haleakala gestanden, wo die Luft bereits spürbar dünn ist,haben einen beeindruckenden Sternenhimmel gesehen und einen sehr kundigen Guide (danke Maverick)dazu gehabt, der uns per Teleskop sogar die Jupitermonde gezeigt hat.
Wir haben Buckelwale gesehen und singen gehört und Mantarochen schwimmen sehen.

Über 5000 Bilder warten drauf, gesichtet zu werden. Hier gibt es eine erste Kostprobe.

The typical smell of flowers and the abundant Green will stay for long times in our mind.
We went through lava fields, put a stick into the glowing lava and were standing on land younger than we are.
We relaxed and took a bath at white and black beaches, had some hiking tours and enjoyed spectacular views at Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon.
We were standing on Mauna Kea and Haleakala, where the air is already noticeable thin, have seen a impressive starry scy having a very expert guide (thank you Maverick), who has shown us the moons of the Jupiter per telescope.
We have seen humpback whales and heard them singing, we have seen Manta rays swimming.
